Gillian Gissing, a speaker from the UK, talks about her commemorative journey to Ypres (Belgium) to retrace the route that her great-uncle took a hundred years ago. She visited the field where he died in action and attended a ceremony at the Menin Gate – which bears his name – a memorial to the Missing. Gillian will talk about the fate of her great-uncle as well as the experiences shared by thousands of ordinary soldiers on both sides of the trenches.
