George Eliot and George Henry Lewes in Weimar

Saturday, 13 September 2014, 17:30h

In August 1854 George Eliot (then Marian Evans) arrived with her partner for a 3-month stay in Weimar, associated with Goethe, Schiller and Liszt. The visit created a scandal in literary London, but had consequences for European culture. With slides, Bob Muscutt will recreate experiences, sights and personalities that reflect the significance of this visit.
